The
AAU's Privacy Policy
It
is the AAU's policy to carefully safeguard the privacy of the information
you provide to us by means of this web site. Because we gather certain
types of information about the users of our site and services, we feel
you should fully understand how we capture and use of that information.
This privacy policy discloses what information we gather, how we use it,
and how to correct or change it.
What information do we gather about you on
this site?
The only personally identifiable data that is gathered on this site is
information you voluntarily provide to us. For example, you will be asked
for identifying information when you apply to become a member of the AAU,
or to register a team roster as members.
We do not surreptitiously gather personally identifiable data from you.
However, we do gather aggregate information about our visitors using cookies.
Aggregate information cannot be used to track the activities of one particular
visitor but shows us what our visitors as a whole seem to find useful
on our site. Aggregate information also enables us to better tailor our
content to visitors' needs and helps our us better understand the demographics
of our audience.
We do not collect the e-mail addresses of people who communicate with
us via e-mail except to respond to these communications. We may archive
messages for quality assurance purposes. In cases where we use a third-party
vendor to provide a service, feedback or questions directed to us about
that service may be forwarded to the vendor for a direct response to the
member or visitor.
Do we collect information from children?
It is the AAU's policy not to collect personally identifiable information
from children under the age of thirteen. If a child under the age of thirteen
wishes to join as a member of the AAU, a parent, guardian, coach or other
responsible adult must enter the relevant information and provide a credit
card to verify their status as an adult and pay the application fee.
How do we use the information we gather?
The AAU uses the information voluntarily given by our members in order
to issue membership cards. Membership information is needed to track members'
participation in AAU events for insurance and control purposes.
In addition, the AAU uses tracking information to determine which areas
of our site our visitors and members like and don't like based on traffic
to those areas. The AAU does not track what individuals read, but rather
how well each page performs overall. This helps us continue to improve
our site and services for you.
The AAU will, upon AAU discretion, share certain collected information with AAU sponsors and other entities. For an example of these Sponsors visit the Sponsors & Affiliates section of our web site
The AAU will also share information with its Districts, sports
leagues and other related entities as necessary so that you can fully
enjoy the benefits of membership.
The AAU creates aggregate reports on demographics and traffic patterns
for internal use only. This allows our members and visitors to receive
content that is pertinent to their needs. The AAU shares this aggregate
information with third parties such as business partners.
You should be aware that if you voluntarily disclose personally identifiable
information (e.g., user name, e-mail address) on the sites of third parties
which are linked to the AAU's site, that information can be collected
and correlated and used by the third parties. Such activities are beyond
the control of the AAU.
Please be advised that in all cases the AAU reserves the right to disclose
information, including personally identifiable information, for any reason
if, in our sole discretion, we believe that it is reasonable to do so,
including: to satisfy laws, such as the Electronic Communications Privacy
Act, regulations, or governmental or legal requests for such information,
or to protect the AAU and our members and visitors.
Privacy policy changes
If we decide to change our privacy policy we will post those changes here
so that you will always know what information we gather, how we might
use that information and whether we will disclose it to anyone.
Other web sites
The AAU web site contains links to other sites not affiliated with the
AAU. These sites have their own policies and practices with respect to
online privacy, and the AAU cannot be responsible for the privacy practices
or the content of these unaffiliated Web sites. These other sites may
send their own cookies to users, collect data, or solicit personal information.
Please keep in mind that whenever you give out personal information online
that information can be collected and used by people you don't know. While
the AAU strives to protect their members' and visitors' personal information
and privacy, we cannot guarantee the security of any information you disclose
online to Web Sites not affiliated with the AAU and you do so at your own risk.
The AAU's policy does not extend to anything that is inherent in the operation
of the Internet, and therefore beyond the AAU's control, and is not to
be applied in any manner contrary to applicable law or governmental regulation.

Cookies -- What are they?
Cookies are pieces of information that a web site transfers to an individual's
